because i’m sick of seeing “saying the queer community is forcing queer onto everyone else”, here’s an ms paint diagram!

there are infinitely many communities for different people; there’s communities for people who id as queer, people who id as lgbt, people who id as gay, people who id as bi, people who id as ace, and many many more, literally infinitely more.

“the queer community” refers to any and all people who id as queer. if you don’t id as queer and don’t want “queer” forced onto you, guess what, saying “the queer community” isn’t referring to you! it’s only referring to people who want to be a part of that community. you’re not being forced to id as “queer”, we’re not calling you “queer” because we weren’t referring to you in the first place.

the only problem with this diagram really is that i’m wrong in calling it “The Wider Community”. The Wider Community that contains the infinite amount of smaller communities within it doesn’t actually have a name, which makes sense because it’s impossible to come up with a name that everyone in it will like. it’s also next-to-impossible to assume any shared experiences within that group other than “negatively affected by cisheterophobia”, and even then i’m sure there are people within this group that might disagree with that and i might be uninformed because it’s impossible for me to know every individual experience in the group.

so yeah, please stop calling people who use “the queer community” for themselves homophobic, and stop pretending The Wider Community That Doesn’t Actually Have A Name is called the “lgbt community”. or the “sga and trans” community, that isn’t it either.

@wetwareproblem this is something that you’ve taught me actually and i’ve seen you discourse about “the queer community” alot, so perhaps your followers and any angry anons that go onto your blog might appreciate this? also anyone that is genuinely confused about it of course.
